
Of McLean, VA on Monday, May 30, 2011. Beloved husband of 58 years of Katharine Day; loving father of Holly (Mark) Gochnour of Germantown, MD and Alison (Paul) Neu of Mercerville, NJ; adored grandfather of Amy, Emily, and Kevin Gochnour and David and Laura Neu. George was a WWII Navy veteran, a 1943 graduate of Harvard University, was involved in the Harvard Club of Washington, Hasty Pudding Club, football manager, and Iroquois Club. His business career was in the Aluminum Industry where he was the Senior Corporate Planner of Alcoa, Mgr. of Marketing Services for Martin Marietta, and retired as the VP of Economic Affairs for the Aluminum Association. He was involved in business organizations such as Federal Statistics User Conference, National Assn. of Business Economists, National Assn. of Aluminum Distributors, and the American Marketing Assn. George was Chairman of the Planning Committee, United Mental Health Services of Allegheny Co., PA, long time member of Hidden Creek Country Club and also Elder and Deacon and Assistant Treasurer at Lewinsville Presbyterian Church. In George's earlier days, sailing was his passion, followed by golf and traveling in his later years. Visitation will be held at Lewinsville Presbyterian Church, 1724 Chain Bridge Rd., McLean, VA on Friday, June 3, 2011 from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. A funeral service will immediately follow at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be held at National Memorial Park on Saturday, June 4, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. Memorial Donations to Lewinsville Presbyterian Church, McLean, Va.
