

Gladys Louise Trammell, 2nd oldest of seven of Elnor and Pattie Mae Baskerville, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 15, 2025 at 6:45 pm at Woodbine Rehabilitation and Nursing Home in Alexandria, Virginia. She was at a seasoned age of 87.
Born on July 13, 1938 in Mecklenburg County, Virginia. Gladys a beloved daughter, sister, aunt, wife, mother, and friend to those who knew her. She was well cared for by her sons Elston and Shawn Trammell and her devoted daughter-in-law Yolanda Trammell who took time to make sure that her hair was always picture ready.
Gladys received and and accepted Christ at a very early age who was taught by her loving mother to love and trust in the Lord. She attended public school in Mecklenburg Virginia and from there moved to Washington DC along with her six siblings and finally, settling in Arlington Virginia where she also attend school at Hoffman Ballston in Arlington, Virginia and eventually received her GED with Arlington County Schools.
Gladys, at an early age, met and married her husband, Elston Trammell, Sr and produced five children; Elston Trammell, Jr., Michael Trammell (Deseased), Timothy Trammell, Stephanie Trammell (Deceased), and Shawn Trammell. Gladys worked hard to provide for her family where she worked as an Assistant Bakery Manager at Giant Food Grocery Store. She relocated and settled her family from Halls Hills to South 3rd St, just off of Glebe Rd in South Arlington, Virginia.
Gladys was well known for her family cookouts, family dinners on Thanksgiving, which was her favorite holiday, and known for delicious bread pudding, potato salad, and fluffy pancakes.
Some of her hobbies were sewing, latch hook, knitting, and singing which she was a member of a radio singing group. Her favorites songs were Oh, Happy Day by Aretha Franklin and Grazing in the Grass by Hugh Masakela. She also had her party moments at the cabarets with her friends Estell and sister-in-law and friend Barbara Baskerville. She was a little of fun to have around and, at times, very comical.
Gladys was preceded in death by her parents Elnor and Pattie Mae Baskerville, husband Elston Trammell, Sr, brothers Rudolph Baskerville and Edward Lee, sister-in-law Barbara Baskerville, Son Michael Trammell and only Daughter Stephanie Trammell, and devoted and loving Uncle Jr, affectionately known as Big June.
Gladys leave a loving memory to be cherished her sons Timothy Trammell (Kathy-Deceased), Elston Trammell, Jr., and Shawn Trammell (Yolanda), Siblings; Sister Loretta Sears(Theodore), Sister Ella's Walker, Brother Donald Spriggs and Brother Paul Bowman.
Her legacy continues through her grandchildren, Chandler and Mariah Trammell; Aaron, LaRon, and Michael Trammell; Dominick, Kelian, and Keaira Clark, step-grands: Jojuana Jones, Dominique Bridgeforth, Dallas Bridgeforth, and all of her great-grandchildren Abri Trammell, Mikaya Trammell, Maliya Trammell, Elias Trammell, Anaya Clark, Blessing Clark, Dominick Clark, Devon Clark, Dex Clark, step-great granddaughter Aurora Christina Renee Floyd, and a devoted and loving niece Sherrie Walker.
Gladys was, affectionately, known to her grands and great-grands as Granny.
She also leave to cherish her love and caring memories to a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family, as well as many cherished friends especially Ms. Estelle, Ms. Yvonne Gravit, and Ms. Everett Turner.
