

On August 30, 2016 at Sunrise Senior Living in Reston, VA. Helen Scheuering died in her sleep of natural causes. Her struggle with diabetes and dementia/Alzheimer’s disease has ended and she has gone home to be with the Lord, Jesus.
Helen was born in New Haven, CT, to George and Anna (Bates) Cantrell. Helen loved her siblings, Louise Rayner, Jean Lamb, Grace Davis, George Cantrell and Patty Davis. She reminisced often about her family and growing up in Connecticut.
Helen survived two husbands, Orville Kenneth Thomas of Mankato, KS, and Arthur William Scheuering of Brooklyn, NY. Two daughters, Deborah Leah (Thomas) Heming of VA and Wendy Diane (Thomas) Alonso of CO and stepson Arthur Allen Scheuering of CA survive Helen. Helen also has eight grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
Helen lived in the Sacramento area of CA for over 60 years. She worked as a clerk typist at McClellan Air Force Base for over 20 years. She enjoyed singing in the choir and taking painting classes at the Celtic Cross Presbyterian Church in Citrus Heights, CA.
Helen’s pride was in being a Mayflower descendent, her love was her family and her passion was to sing. She now has a new song.
There will be a short graveside ceremony at Arlington National Cemetery on Friday, December 9, 2016 at 10 am.
