On November 5, 2024, at the age of 90, Jack Arnold Goldman, a loving husband, father, son, brother, and grandfather, passed away peacefully in his sleep. At the time of his death, he was a resident of Springfield, Virginia and also a man deeply cherished by all who knew him.
Jack was born to the late Harry Goldman and Bessie Tauber Goldman. Just weeks before graduating from George Washington High School, Jack answered the call of duty and enlisted in the U.S. Navy. As an aviation technician aboard the USS Boxer during the Korean War, Jack proudly served his country.
Following his military service, Jack dedicated 25 years of his life to law enforcement with the Fairfax County Police Department, rising through the ranks to become Captain of the Groveton Substation in Alexandria. He made history as the department's first Jewish officer. To many of his colleagues, Jack was fondly known as "Daddy Jack" for his respect, guidance, protection, and unwavering support, treating those who worked with him as part of his extended family.
After his retirement from the police force, Jack transitioned to a successful career in sales, serving as a general manager and top salesperson at Stohlman Oldsmobile. His final professional years were spent as a Fraud Investigator for Navy Federal Credit Union, where his keen sense of justice and integrity continued to shine.
For 63 years, Jack was the devoted husband of Betty Lois Burke Goldman, with whom he shared a beautiful life and raised two children, Stephen Todd Goldman (Cinde Reichard) and Christianne Goldman Chambers. He was also a proud grandfather to Jaclyn Michelle Hunter (Campbell Hunter) and Austen Jack Chambers. And, a beloved great-grandfather to four great-grandchildren: Harper, Jamie,
Hadleigh, and Hannah. Jack is also survived by his brother Leonard Goldman, sister Evie Sherman, and many nieces and nephews. We will all miss him dearly.
A graveside service will be held on Sunday, November 10, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. at King David Memorial Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to celebrate Jack’s life (Shivah) immediately following the service at National Funeral Home & National Memorial Park, 7482 Lee Hwy, Falls Church, VA 22042.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial contributions be made to the Fairfax County Retired Police Association(FCRPA,5625 Revercomb Fairfax VA 22030) in honor of Jack’s legacy of service and care.
