Jim Wiggins, officially Grandfather to Daniel Thomas, helped nurture all the Scouts in Troop 1524.  He was also a dear friend to the parents.  We are especially grateful for all the help and guidance he gave our sons, especially Michael with his Eagle Scout project.  We will miss him greatly.

Jim was a wonderful friend to me and and mentor to the scouts in Troop 1524. He will be missed by many people who's lives he touched, including myself and my son. John Friedman, Assistant Scout Master

Jim was a nice man.  So sorry to hear of his passing.  Cathy, may you find comfort in the memories of your father each and every day.

As will so many others, I will miss Jim greatly.  He was a fine example for the boys in the Scout Troop, to include my sons.  Ever mindful of the importance of how wearing the Scout uniform helped the boys learn good character, he was their conscience when it came to keeping their shirts tucked in and their appearance neat.  I will long remember the Troop journeying to Camp Daniel Boone, North Carolina, for summer camp in 2009.  Jim traveled with us as one of five adult leaders, and he and I were able to "sneak away" for a round of golf together at Waynesville CC, that he planned in advance.  It was a welcome break from the summer camp "grind," and as with all my interactions with Jim, just an enjoyable time.  Steadfast in service to the youth and adults of our Troop, and with a ready smile, he has left an enduring legacy.

Sometime in 2007, Jim approached me with outstretched hand and big smile, and said, "I am going to be active in the troop so can spend time with my grandson Dan."  What an understatement.  Jim was there for Dan and dozens of other Scouts they grew from boys to men.  His presence, guidance, and friendship at troop meetings, committee meetings, service projects, fundraisers, and campfires too numerous to count will be missed by all.  Rest in peace Jim.  YiS,

Jim and I met through his active participation in his grandson's Scout troop over the last several years. He was always there with a joke and a smile. He leaves a void that won't be filled any time soon.

I'm sorry I can't be there. My thoughts are with you.

Jim and Mary first met me on investment matters, but we soon became friends in addition. I admired Jim for his devotion to family and his business acumen. I envied him for a smooth golf swing as well! He and Mary showed the world how to meet challenges and overcome them while also taking time to enjoy the comforting parts of life as well. We can hope to live as well.
