Joseph Thomas Griffith

Joseph Thomas (Tom) Griffith passed away peacefully on Thursday, Aug. 5 in Aldie, VA at the age of 91. The son of Dorothy Francis Hall and Joseph Thomas Griffith of Leesburg, VA. Mr. Griffith was a devoted husband and father. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Delores Elaine Griffith, two sons, Kenneth Michael Griffith and John Davis Griffith and granddaughter Theresa Griffith. He is survived by his daughter, Sandra Lynn Staples and husband John of Fairfax Station, VA, daughter Suzanne Marie Kelly and husband Brian of Centreville, VA, his daughter in laws, Claire Griffith of Ashburn, VA, Kim Griffith of Kitty Hawk, NC and his six grandchildren, Leanne, Carly, John, Chris, Devin and Jennifer. Mr. Griffith is also survived by his sister, Joyce Ann Moreland of Leesburg, VA and sister in law Lavonne Davis Holmes of Saratoga, CA and many nieces and nephews. Mr. Griffith was born on Feb. 4, 1930 in Philomont, Va. After marrying his high school sweet heart, they raised their family in Arlington and Falls Church, VA. He spent the majority of his career as an accountant at Murray Steaks and then at the Conservative Caucus before retiring. Mr. Griffith enjoyed his town house, dogs, gardening, music, watching the Nats play baseball and traveling to Mexico, Florida and most of all Kitty Hawk, NC. He will forever be in our hearts as the most loving and kind-hearted man to everyone he met.

A funeral service for Joseph will be held Tuesday, August 10, 2021 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at National Funeral Home, 7482 Lee Highway, Falls Church, VA 22042. A graveside service will occur Tuesday, August 10, 2021 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at National Memorial Park, 7482 Lee Highway, Falls Church, VA 22042. A reception will occur Tuesday, August 10, 2021 from 2:30 PM to 4:30 PM, 7482 Lee Highway, Falls Church, VA 22042.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Stroke Association or the Humane Society.
