

"KAY" (Age 90)
On Tuesday February 3, 2015, died peacefully at her residence at Goodwin House, Bailey's Crossroads. Beloved wife of 51 years to the late Peter Scourby; mother of Helene Sirpis of Fairfax, VA and Alex Scourby of Alexandria, VA. She is also survived by her grandchildren Alex (Hilery) Sirpis, Matt (Becky) Sirpis, Stephanie (Matt) Paulson and Peter (Tiffany) Scourby and seven great-grandchildren. Kay was born on May 31, 1924 in Staten Island, NY to Louis and Rose Stamos. She was predeceased by both parents and a brother, Stamo Stamos. She moved to Northern Virginia in 1956, living in various locations for the past 59 years. The Scourbys were one of the founding families of St. Katherine's Greek Orthodox Church where they were active members. Kay was a member of the Springfield Art Guild and an accomplished artist, winning numerous awards at local art shows. She used her talent working as an interior design consultant for many years. She was an avid golfer, bowler, pianist and opera-lover – a true renaissance woman. A loving daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, she will be greatly missed.
Family visitation will be held at Demaine Funeral Home, Springfield, VA from 6:00-9:00PM on Tuesday, February 10. A memorial service will be held at St. Katherine's at 10:00AM Wednesday, February 11, with internment immediately following at the National Memorial Cemetery, Falls Church, VA. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the National Kidney Foundation or to St. Katherine's Greek Orthodox Church.
