On Wednesday, April 1st, 2020, Katherine “Kathi” Retzlaff Stapleton, of Vienna, Virginia, wife and mother of two daughters, unexpectedly passed away at the age of 67. She was born April 10th, 1952 to William and Catherine Retzlaff (deceased) in Staten Island, New York.
Kathi graduated from Manheim Township High School Lancaster, Pennsylvania (1970) and Marywood University Scranton, Pennsylvania (1974). While at college she met and eventually married the love of her life, John William “Bill” Stapleton. Kathi is survived by husband, Bill, sister Barbara (James Igo) Retzlaff, daughters, Christine (Sean) Montgomery, Patricia (Peter) Skoglund and two grandchildren, Erik and Paige.
Kathi was a dedicated mother. She loved working with her students at Haycock Elementary School, tending her roses, and playing tennis with friends and family.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, there will be a private celebration of her life at a later date.
