Kathryn Crnkovich

Kathryn Helen Marie McCardell Crnkovich born August 17, 1928, in Nobles County, MN, entered into eternal life on December 12, 2019. She was the daughter of Martin and Teresa McCardell and grew up in Magnolia, MN.

Kay graduated from Marquette University in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, with a BA degree in education. There she met the love of her life, Joseph Crnkovich. They married on February 14, 1953.

Kay is preceded in death by her husband and eleven siblings. She is survived by three sisters: Ruth Delate, Carolyn Lambert, and Dolores McCardell; her children: James (Mary Clare) Crnkovich, William (Donna) Crnkovich, Robert (Elizabeth) Crnkovich, Martin (Ellen) Crnkovich, Joseph (Antonela) Crnkovich, Jean (Daniel) Beatty, Edward (Pamela) Crnkovich; and 38 grandchildren: James; Matthew (Carol) and Daniel (Jessica); Mary (Karl), Elizabeth (Adam), Robert, Catherine, Theresa, Bridget, Anne, and Thomas; Joseph (Sydney), Peter, Samuel (Abigail), Maria, Katie Rose, and Timothy; Joseph, Anthony, Veronica, Teresa, Michael, Nicholas, Luke, and Lucy; John (Katherine), James (Claire), Joseph (Colleen), Christopher (Julia), Mary, Daniel, Colleen, Nicholas, Maximilian, Monica, and Emma; Maximiliano and Tomas; and 19 great-grandchildren.

She faithfully and cheerfully served God through her Catholic faith and service to her family and her neighbors. Kay’s big heart and sincerity touched every person she encountered.

Visitation hours are 5-8pm at Murphy Funeral Home (Falls Church, VA) Sunday December 15; funeral Mass will be at St. John the Beloved (McLean, VA) the following day, Monday, at 10am; and burial will follow at approximately 1pm St. Peter (Washington, VA). Reception to follow in Washington, VA.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Tepeyac Family Center (Fairfax, VA), Oakcrest School (Vienna, VA), The Heights School (Potomac, MD), or Christendom College (Front Royal, VA).
