

Krishna R. Kumar, loving husband to Latha and father to Vandana and Varun, was born on May 5, 1953 in Pudukottai, India. He received a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology Madras (India), an M.B.A. from the Indian Institute of Management Calcutta (India), and a Ph.D. from Columbia University. He and his family lived in New York, New Jersey, and Ohio before moving to Vienna, Virginia in 1992.
Krishna devoted most of his career to the George Washington University School of Business (GWSB), joining as an Assistant Professor in 1992, and most recently holding the position of the Benjamin Franklin Professor of Accountancy. He also served as the Associate Dean for Research and Doctoral Studies for GWSB, as well as Chair of the Accountancy department. Over his career, Krishna distinguished himself as one of the top scholars in his discipline, publishing articles in each of the three leading accounting journals in the world. Moreover, Krishna was an exemplary instructor, consistently teaching difficult courses well and actively engaging with his students.
Krishna was not only unfailingly devoted to his family, but was also was highly respected for his integrity and impeccable work ethic. He was an active member of the Chinmaya Mission Washington Regional Center and was universally valued for his kindness and willingness to help others.
