Lawrence David Powell

Lawrence David Powell, 61, of McLean, Virginia, beloved husband of Michelle Sicat Powell and loving father of Samantha and Becky Powell, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 5th, after an extended and well fought struggle against cancer. Larry was originally from Oak Park, Michigan, and the son of Sheldon and Gertrude Powell (deceased). Larry lived an active and heathy lifestyle. He loved Vail and was passionate about skiing with his family. He and his wife, Michelle, traveled the world, hiking and exploring various cultures, cuisines and history. He was a supportive husband to Michelle, showcasing his own modern food creations as they regaled family and friends at piano soirees through the years. Larry had a Ph.D. in Economics from Northwestern University and an MBA from the University of Michigan. He spent the majority of his career at Deloitte, establishing the Transfer Pricing practice and mentoring colleagues. Larry will be buried in the Philippines, the country of his wife’s heritage. Larry’s wonderful smile and desire to help others will always live on in our hearts, and we will carry forward his dedication to living life to its fullest.
