I just learned of Larry's passing today and am deeply saddened to hear. Larry had an incredible sense of humor and he always made me smile despite the situation. I met him working at Ameriprise Financial in 2008 and he later sold my wife and I Life Insurance Policies that we still hold. Even though I haven't seen or spoken to him in nearly a decade, I still think of him often. He once told me that a priest once told him, "don't go to the bathroom when you have to, go when you can." For some odd reason I repeat that to myself every day and it still makes me laugh. What an awesome guy!

When Lawrence was a priest at St. Andrew’s , he came (our if the Parrish boundary ) to the Cameron Glenn facility, abd gave my dying mother her last rights.  I will never forget the kindness in him.  He was truly a wonderful man.  My prayers are with him and his family .

While attending an event at our former parish, St. Andrew the Apostle Catholic Church in Clifton, VA. my husband and I learned of Fr. Violettes' passing.  Fr. Violette was a wonderful Priest; we loved and respected his caring personality, Godly heartfelt homilies, and spiritual guidance.   In 2005, we renewed our wedding vows and Fr. Violette was the officiant.  May God rest his soul in peace. 

I only found out today of Lawrence’s passing.  When he was a priest at St. Andrews the Apostle, he was an excellent priest .  What touched me deeply, he can to the Cameron Glenn Facility and gave my 92 year old mother absolution and last rights just a few days before she passed away.  I will never forget his kindness.

I enjoyed tremendously Larry's fabulous singing voice during mass. When I first spoke to him, following mass, I asked if he sang professionally.  He smiled meekly, humbly saying no.  Surprised I told that I had been praying his future work would utilize his amazing voice. He smiled broadly.  He is no doubt now singing among the greatest singers, to the Glory of Our Lord.  

Though it has been years since I was a parishioner there, I first met Fr. Violette when he was placed at OLA in Woodbridge, VA. We all loved him, not only for the reverence that he instilled at the heart of every mass, but for his dry wit and calming, truly pastoral presence. It was a shock to learn of his passing, and I add my prayers from here in Quebec City to those of the other people whose lives he touched.

To the family of Lawrence M. Violette, our condolences! To us, he will always be Father Violette, a holy man to say the least. He introduced the Latin Mass to Our Lady of Angels parish once every other month at 10 AM. A very talented man, he played the piano and the trumpet. His reverence at Mass was awe inspiring. It was a pleasure to hear, "today at Mass is Fr. Violette." May God bless his soul and receive him in His arms.

I first met Larry when I was in high school, I was an altar server at St Andrews and he was always keeping things so entertaining and funny, we'd always be laughing over all kinds of random jokes in the back but then he'd have a completely serious side when it was "go" time and we always wanted to execute a perfect Mass with him. He had a gift for connecting with people and keeping a light mood but you knew he was always super dedicated and serious when it was time. One time he took a few of us back to see his motorcycle before youth group, I'll never forget being blown away that he had this bright yellow motorcycle and the image of him wearing his motorcycle helmet swinging a golf club around in the church garage is one that I still remember like it was yesterday. He was a great teacher and such a wholesome and dedicated individual that will be greatly missed.

My deepepst Sympathies and Love to the Violette Family at this time of Sorrow. God Bless Larry Violette and God-Speed to Heaven where you will be with your Father. I always wanted to Thank Larry for his frequent visits and counsel to see my mother Maria Reid, after my father Joe Reid passed away. This was a great kindness of a caring neighbor that he provided which I am sure is one of so many in his life. Larry Violette your kind grace and sense of humor will be missed. I’m so shocked and saddened to hear of Larry’s passing. He had an enormous impact on my life, several times over. He mentored me as a youth, stayed in contact during my college days, sending me insightful and beautiful reflections on the week’s readings and Gospel, he came to our housewarming party for our first home, and was a wonderful friend to me through Facebook and otherwise for many years. I cannot believe he’s gone, and I’m so sorry to the whole family! He spoke often of how special his family was to him, and it was clear how close you all are. I will keep you all in my prayers! May he rest in eternal peace. 

I think back to our fun times in high school,  all the rides you gave me in that boat of a car you used to drive, and our many hangs at Three Pigs after closing, cherished memories indeed! Thank you for your friendship, love and laughter here on earth. The world is diminished by Larry’s passing and he will be so very missed by those who knew and loved his sense of humor, intellect, and generous spirit. I know he is resting in the arms of his Lord and Savior and he is now at peace. Larry and I car pooled to George Mason University in the early 80s from McLean Virginia.  He was so genuine and a once in a lifetime friend. He laughed and smiled a heck of alot.  We ate lunch everyday on the way home from school and I loved his praying spirit and meaningful conversation.  I always admired the Violette family.

I greatly appreciate his YES to our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.  He made my world more beautiful, and my walk with Jesus so much finer.  May God be with him now  and evermore, and may he be overwhelmed by all that Jesus promised us when we meet him face to face!


I am deeply saddened to hear of Larry's passing. He had a special way-either through his sermons-or as a layman, passing kindness and assurance along to his family and friends. We both grew up in one another's midst throughout the years. At St. John's, McLean High and beyond. Larry gave me strength in recent years and was so kind to  attend and record my father's burial at Arlington Cemetery, with his voice echoing the prayers of Father Drummond. I will forever be grateful for the act of pure Grace. May he rest in peace. Gone to soon.

I was so sorry to hear of Larry's passing. The friendship and love he had with my dad, Deacon Dan will live in my heart forever. May God give you comfort during this difficult time.

Have great memories of Larry from our seminary days at St Charles Borromeo in Philadelphia.  He had a deep and sincere piety while at the same time a sometimes mischievous sense of humor with a painful talent for puns.  I will keep him in my prayers.

I grew up.with Larry in McLean, VA and attended school with him at both at Lewisville and MHS and got to know his mother during a canoe trip our class did. I regret that we were not friends, but our relationship became closer after we reconnected on Facebook. I enjoyed his posts and commiserated with him when he had to deal with the traffic on 495. I was shocked and saddened to head of his passing and hope and pray God's grace on his family. You will be missed, Larry.

I was so saddened to hear of Larry’s passing. He and I were friends in High School and would often see each other at Mass. We reconnected many years later on Facebook :)

I last saw Larry in October of 2019 when I purchased my car from him. On the test drive we stayed out extra long just laughing and carrying on like we were back in high school.

To your entire family, please know you are in my thoughts and I am praying for you each day during this very difficult time.

I attended McLean High School with Larry and later reconnected with him on Facebook with shared political and religious views. When he went off social media, I lost touch again. I was so sorry to hear of his passing at such a young age. I am praying for him and for his family.  God's peace my dear friend. 

Larry and I have been friends since elementary school at St Johns. Both alter boys. We have sporadically kept in touch over the years shared the love of motorcycles and Christ. RIP my dear old friend. Peace 

I have many fond memories of Larry from our days at McLean HS. He was a good friend and a blast to be around - he never failed to launch the witty quip that made everyone laugh. I reconnected with him years later on FB and loved reading the stories he would share, especially from his Home Depot days.  My sincere condolences to the Violette family and friends….

This is such sad news, after many years I reconnected with Larry through social media.  We enjoyed great conversations on and off line and often tried to get together for lunch and laughs, I regret we didn’t made that happen.
