

Lynne Ann Wakefield, 71, of Springfield, Virginia passed asway in her home after a long struggle with bone cancer in the early morning of Tuesday, March 29th. Born in Alliance, Ohio on May 3, 1950, Lynne retired from the Federal Government in 2002 working as an analyst for the U. S. Materiel Command of the U. S. Department of Army. She is survived by her mother, Donna J. Vogelhuber (George), Fairfax, VA ; Brother, Larry D. Gobely (Gladys), Millington, MD ; Brother, Kennard L. Gobely, Clear Brook, VA; Sister, Karen S. Beatty (Jay), Herndon, VA ; Sister, Sharon L. Hankinson (Les), Fort Worth, TX. Additionally, she is survived by many nephews, nieces, and cousins, aunts, and uncles in her native Ohio, as well as friends, neighbors, and former co-workers. She was predeceased by her former husband, Patrick J. Wakefield and her father, Dwight I. Gobely. Lynne graduated from George C. Marshall High School in Falls Church in 1968, and attended Radford University in Radford, Virginia. She enjoyed tennis, animals, early rock music, and gardening. She will be missed by all. Visitations will be held at Murphy Funeral Home, 1102 W. Broad St. Falls Church, VA 22046 on Tuesday, April 12th from 6 to 8 PM, and the following day Wednesday, April 13th from 6 to 8 PM. A Funeral Service will be held the next day on Thursday, April 14th at 12 PM Officiated by Robert Winston of Springfield, VA. Interment to immediately follow at National Memorial Park.
