Mercedes L. Franchi

Mercedes L. Franchi, 86, of Annandale, Virginia, passed away peacefully on Friday April 12, 2019 in Burke, VA. Mercedes was born October 31, 1932 in Havana, Cuba. Mercedes and her husband built a life here in the US. They were blessed with incredibly close and lifelong friends who called themselves “The Dirty Dozen.” They passed their love of life and each other onto the next generation, and their children remain friends today. Mercedes loved chocolate, dogs, Spanish Novellas, shopping, and a good laugh. She loved her family beyond measure and took great pride in her four children and 8 grandchildren. Beloved mother to Beatriz M. Franchi of Sarasota, FL; Eduardo E. Franchi (Julie) of Chambersburg, PA; Jorge I. Franchi (Jackie) of Annandale, VA and mother-in-law to Terry Franchi of Centreville, VA. Loving sister to Eduardo Macia and Lilliam Manito of Miami, FL. Proud grandmother of Ali, Annie, Sam, Zack, Jack, Joey, Nicole and Jacob. Mercedes is proceeded in death by her husband, Rafael L. Franchi and son, Rafael E. Franchi. The family will receive friends at National Funeral Home, 7482 Lee Highway, Falls Church, VA on Tuesday April 16 from 4-7 pm. A Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, April 17 at 11 AM at St. Ambrose Catholic Church, 3901 Woodburn Rd, Annandale, VA. Interment will follow at National Memorial Park in Falls Church, VA.
