Norman E. Grubb, the beloved brother of James Grubb and Catherine Strickland, has gone to be with our Lord and heaven welcomed a new angel in the early morning hours of December 7th. Norman is also survived by nephew James Grubb Jr., brother-in-law Robert Strickland, nieces and nephews Amanda, Bobby, David and Nicki Strickland, as well as several aunts and numerous cousins, all who loved him greatly.
Norman had many loving friends throughout his life, especially his dearest friend Sharon who showed an overwhelming degree of love and support during his battle with cancer. We cannot thank Sharon enough for being such a wonderful friend to our brother.
Norman worked in several restaurants in the area over the years where he found great joy in serving his customers, and he became a favorite waiter for many of them. Norman will be greatly missed by all whom he served and worked with. Norman had such a special gift of connecting with others and making each person in his life feel very special. Without a doubt, everyone who was blessed to have known Norman is greater for having that relationship with him. We pray that Norman’s memory, and his special way of showing compassion, kindness and acceptance to all, be honored and emulated by each one of us. May his beautiful sweet soul soar like a white winged dove freely above us, full of peace and love.
In respect of Norman’s last wish, the family will have a private gathering. We ask that expressions of sympathy in honor of Norman be made in the form of donations to Capital Hospice Care, 5568 General Washington Drive, Suite A215, Alexandria, VA 22312. They provided Norman with such incredible care and support during his battle with cancer. We will forever be grateful for all that they have done.
Almighty God,
As we approach Your throne of grace, we know it is a place where we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help us in time of need. And we thank You. Lord, we need Your mercy and we need Your grace. But above all, we need Your strength and Your love to help carry us through these trying times of sorrow. We ask that Your loving arms be open to receive our brother Norman as You call him back home into Your holy and glorious presence. And we thank You for keeping him safe, according to Thy Word, Oh’ Lord, while we wait to be reunited with him in our last day. We pray today in Jesus name. Amen.
