Olga was born November 20th, 1932, in Doliana (Stournara), Evrytania, Greece, to Efrosine and Ioannis Haskos and grew up in Doliana alongside her siblings Maria, Andreas, Eleni, and Athanasia. From a young age, Olga’s heart was for those in need. She would help all in her village without hesitation. She was a natural medicine woman and an advocate for those without a voice. In courage, strength, and love, Olga was there to assist anyone who asked of her, and she saved many lives through her trust in God and determination to do the right thing for all.
In December of 1959, Olga married the love of her life, Kostas Tzaferis. They moved from Greece to Chattanooga, Tennessee, and in 1961 they moved to Virginia. With their four children, they built their beautiful life in Fairfax, Virginia, and had many restaurants throughout the years. Olga worked at Fair Oaks Hospital as a dietician chef, as well as at the Greek Embassy in Washington, DC, and also had her own catering business for many years.
Olga was a loving and supportive wife to her beloved husband Kostas of 65 and a half years. Their bond is one of true love, and their hearts are inseparable. Through all the ups and downs of life, they were there for each other. Olga was a nurturing mother to her precious children, and an adoring Yiayia to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a woman who loved God with everything she had and everything she did. She loved to cook, write poetry, sing, garden, and she truly had a heart of gold. She opened her heart to the poor, the orphaned, and the homeless. Her smile and laugh lit up any room she walked into, and her stories and her humor brought everyone together. Olga had presence and strength, and used her talents and passion to serve God, her family, and others in any way she knew how. She had a philanthropist's heart. Her hands were blessed, and whatever she touched, flourished.
Olga was an adored wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, godmother, aunt, and friend to many across the world. She will be sorely missed by all, but her sweet memory will always be eternal.
Olga is survived by her beloved husband Kostas Tzaferis, and her precious children Mary (John) Papanastasiou, Efrosine Tzaferis, Demetra (Pete) Veltsistas, and Demetrios (Susan) Tzaferis. She is also survived by her cherished nine grandchildren Emilios Andrew (Vasiliki) Papanastasiou, Constantine Papanastasiou, Elaina (Spiros) Avgeropoulos, Joanna (Illia) Zadorozhnyi, Thomas (Maria) Veltsistas, Sasha Tzaferis, Konstantinos (Tricia) Tzaferis, Christopher Robic, and John (Emma) Robic, and adored eight great-grandchildren Themistocles, Ioannis, and Panayiotis Avgeropoulos, Sophia and Demetrios Tzaferis, John and Dimitrios Papanastasiou, and Aristidis Zadorozhnyi.

“Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in Me. My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with Me that you also may be where I am. You know the way to the place where I am going.”
