After serving his country, he became interested in woodworking and enrolled in classes with the GI Bill. He served his apprenticeship with Colonial Reproductions in Woodstock, VA. His career in woodworking continued when he moved to the Northern Virginia area and worked for various companies. Over the years, he became a Master Craftsman and his work can be admired throughout the DC area such as the Reagan Building, White House, American Indian Museum and many churches and famous restaurants/bars. In 2006 he was recognized for his talent and received the Craftmanship Award from the Washington Building Congress.
Bob was a long standing member with the Annandale American Legion and the NRA.
He was married to his beloved wife Betty Tisinger Richman for 65 years and had a daughter Carla Richman Rogers, who is now engaged to Jerry Pomphrey, and loved them both dearly. His pride and joy were his two grandsons Ashton and Bryce Rogers that meant the world to him. He also loved Ashton's fiancé Katie Honey and Bryce's girlfriend Bailie Traviss, as well as his niece Amy Tisinger, the God Mother to his two grandsons.
Bob was an avid sports fan, but the Washington Redskins and Washington Capitals were his favorite teams. However, watching his grandsons play hockey on various travel and college teams gave him the most pleasure. He also enjoyed working in his yard and garden and was always found outside the house.
