

He was the only child of AIIen Clifford and Pauline Hujik Trout. Bob grew up on a farm in Frenchtown, NJ. Prior to enlisting in the Marines, he attended West Virginia University and began his preparation for service in the ROTC program. Later, he completed his degree in Business Management from the University of Maryland utilizing the GI bill.
Bob enlisted in the Marine Corps and began his military service at Camp Lejeune in North Carolina. Upon his completion of basic training, Bob was deployed to Vietnam. Despite being wounded in the line of duty, he chose to return to his unit to fulfill his obligation and served a second deployment. Bob was also awarded the Purple Heart for the injury incurred during battle
After 30+ years in the USMC, Bob received an Honorable Discharge with the rank of Master Gunnery Sergeant. His deep-rooted service to country continued for another 20 years with the Department of Defense.
Bob’s love of country was only surpassed by his love of family. Bob is survived by his wife, Marjorie Ann Soltis of Naanty-Glo, PA with whom he recently celebrated his 50th wedding anniversary. His nephew, Thomas Michael Holliday, Sr (Sarah, wife) of Parrish, FL and their children Michael Jr. and Alexander.
Bob lived a life full of love, laughter, Navy and Notre Dame football and service. His life will be celebrated on Tuesday October 21, 2025 from 5:00-8:00 p.m. at Murphy’s funeral home, 1102 W. Broad Street, Falls Church, VA 22046. SEMPER FI MARINE
