On August 29, 2010 at her home in New Orleans . Laura was an elementary school educator in Fairfax County, VA for over 20 years before retiring in 1985. A Celebration of her life will be held in the Main Chapel of National Memorial Park, 7482 Lee Highway , Falls, Church , VA 22042 , Saturday, May 14, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. Family and Friends will gather after the service at the home of the Gawens. In lieu of flowers, Laura requested donations to Animal Allies, P. O. Box 7040 , Fairfax Station , Virginia 22039 or charity of your choice.
