Shirley Ward Wingfield

Shirley Ward Wingfield, age 84, passed away on February 18, 2017 in Ashburn, VA. She was born May 29, 1932 in Washington DC to the late Gladys and Truman Ward. She was a graduate of Theodore Roosevelt High School. She was a psychology and education major at Westhampton College of the University of Richmond. She and Benjamin were married April 14, 1956. As a resident of Hampton, Virginia from 1956-2015, Shirley was an active member of Ivy Memorial Baptist Church and the Elizabeth Lake Community. She was a reading specialist in the Hampton Public Schools, working in Pembroke and Kecoughtan High Schools and the Hampton Public Schools Reading Center.

Shirley was the beloved wife of Benjamin F. Wingfield; loving mother of Shirley Anna Wingfield Brawley (Jay) and Sarah Wingfield Stuchlak (Greg); devoted grandmother of Benjamin Brawley (Suzie), Anna Brawley (Mat Kovalich), Peter Stuchlak and Laura Stuchlak; and sister of G. Truman Ward, Richard Ward, and the late Charles Ward.

Friends will be received at National Funeral Home, 7482 Lee Hwy, Falls Church, VA Saturday, February 25, 2017 from 11AM to 12PM where a funeral service will follow at 12:00PM. Interment at National Memorial Park.
