Sidney Richards Moore

Beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather passed away on January 9, 2017, in Falls Church, VA. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Diana; sons, Roderick (Colleen) and Brett (Cary); daughters, Shawneen Petersen, Pamela (George) Hamel and Monica (William) Bazarek; 15 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren; and by his sister Tina Stuart of Fayetteville, AR. Sid was born on August 20, 1924 in Monroe, LA.

He was a WWII combat veteran, serving on the USS Johnnie Hutchins (DE 360) and other ships afterwards. Foreign duty stations included the Philippines, Taiwan and Vietnam. Sid retired from the U.S. Navy as a Lt. Commander in 1970. He then worked as a public information officer for the USDA until his retirement in 1987. Sid loved cheering for LSU, grilling, fishing and keeping fit. He will be sorely missed.

Visitation was at Murphy Funeral Home,1102 West Broad St., Falls Church, VA, Friday, January 13, 2017 from 3- 6 p.m. The funeral Mass was held at St. James Catholic Church in Falls Church VA on January 14, 2017, at 10 a.m.

Internment with honors will take place at Arlington National Cemetery on Thursday, January 11, 2018.
