Veronica was born in Ansonia, CT to Louis and Julia Stiber (nee, Begola) on August 30, 1926. She married Donald LaMar Owens on July 21, 1945 at St. Thomas More Church in Arlington, VA.
During World War II she aided the war effort, making rubber rafts and Zippo lighters in a Connecticut factory. Upon her marriage in 1945, Veronica relocated to Virginia where she became a homemaker and raised three children with her husband.
Veronica is preceded in death by her husband, Donald L. Owens and her son Joseph W. Owens.
Veronica is survived by son Donald (Ruth) of South Riding; daughter Marian (Wayne) of Spotsylvania; Grandchildren: Michael Owens of Richmond and Christopher Owens of Mechanicsville, Kris Kay of Stafford, Justin Williams and Jenna Wellborn of Spotsylvania; and Linda, Randy and Danielle Owens of Tennessee; Great-Grandchildren: Brianna and Christian Owens of Mechanicsville, Abigail and Savannah Owens of Richmond; Anthony Kay and Tatiana Kay of Stafford; Joel and Colin Whitten of Spotsylvania.
The family of Mrs. Owens wishes to extend our sincere thanks to the staffs of Spring Arbor of Fredericksburg and Mary Washington Hospice, whose care and compassion provided great care and comfort to her over the past year.
Funeral services (graveside; family-only) and burial will be held on Thursday, May 19th at National Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Falls Church. Arrangements are by National Funeral Home.
