Wayland Hugh Clark

On Thursday, February 23, 2017 of Winchester Virginia.

Wayland is preceded in death by his beloved Daughter, Tanya Michelle Clark. Beloved Husband of 52 years to Valerie K. Clark; Loving Father of Michael Shawn Clark (and his Wife, Liliana) of Haymarket Virginia; Devoted Grandfather of Tyler, Zachary and Nathan Clark; and many friends and family.

Hugh proudly served his Country as a member of the USAF, 1956-1960, as part of the 4521st Fighter Wing, based at Nellis Air Force Base, Las Vegas Nevada. He received numerous citations and medals for his outstanding service. Prior to his Air Force service, he served for one year as a member of the U.S. Navy Reserve.

Following his service to his country, Hugh was a proud member of the IUEC Local #10, for 39 years as a Service Technician, where he retired in 1999.

He was an amazing, devoted and loyal husband to his wife, Valerie. A wonderful Father, Hugh cared for Tanya for her 37 years of life, and he devoted all of his available time not only to her, but the many other children and adults that lived and were cared for at the Northern Virginia Training Center, located in Fairfax, Virginia.

Hugh also served as President of The Falls Church Lions Club, a charity organization, for 4 years. He organized and attended all of the fund raising operations. He was proud to have been a part of such a wonderful organization.

In his free time, he enjoyed fishing, classic cars, spending time with his grandchildren, and spoiling his wife rotten.

Gone but not forgotten, Hugh will be remembered for his witty sense of humor, love for a great practical joke, his ability to fix just about anything that was broken, his dislike for bad drivers, and his staunch devotion to his family.
