Mills, Franca Maria Ida, 94, of North Massapequa, passed away unexpectedly, March 11, 2023. Born in Florence, Italy, she came to America as a "war bride" in 1948 and is now reunited with her beloved "G.I" Edward H. Mills (dec. 1990). In 2011 she wrote, and had published, a semi-autobiographical book of her experiences entitled Strangers and Memories. A force to be reckoned with, in her later years she attained a bachelor's degree from Adelphi University. For many years she worked as a family counselor at South Oaks Hospital, Amityville. Not one to slow down she was very proud of her community volunteerism, along with being recognized in a book of 100 Most Influential Women. Of all her achievements, her family was her most treasured. She was a wonderful mother and mother-in-law to Jean C. Mills of Boston, Massachusetts, Diane S. Abzug (Robert) of Boynton Beach, Florida, and Michael E. Mills (Margaretmary) of West Babylon, New York. Devoted grandmother of Michael J. Rodolico, Scott E. Rodolico (Brenda Franco), Stephanie N. Schapiro (Evan), and Jordan E. Abzug. The family will receive visitors Tuesday, March 14th, 2-4 & 7-9 pm at Arthur F. White Funeral Home, Inc., 315 Conklin Street, Farmingdale. Funeral Service Wednesday, March 15th, 10 am at the funeral home. Interment following at St. Charles Cemetery, East Farmingdale. In lieu of flowers, please make donations in Franca's memory to the Bayard Cutting Arboretum, bayardcuttingarboretum.com.
