

Maureen Tobin Stea passed away on Friday, September 2, 2022 surrounded by family. She was born in New York City to Richard and Beatrice Burke Tobin.Maureen was educated in the Catholic School system - St. Clare’s Elementary School in Rosedale, Queens and Dominican Commercial High School in Jamaica, Queens. She obtained her Bachelor of Arts in English from Hunter College and a Master of Arts in Education from Brooklyn College. Maureen went on to have a teaching career in both elementary and high school in the Catholic School system, most recently as an Adjunct Professor of English and administrative assistant at Molloy College in Rockville Centre, NY. Maureen’s proudest roles in life were being a loving wife and dedicated mother and grandmother. She was married to the late Sam Stea, a detective in the NYPD who was gravely injured in the line of duty. There was no doubt that the lights of her life were her three children, Richard, Elizabeth (Tim Kissane)and John, who she was so pleased at the adults they became -full of kindness, compassion and empathy. However, Maureen’s most cherished role was that of grandma to Elizabeth and Tim Kissane’s four children: Avery, Ryan, Andrew and Wyatt.Maureen is also survived by three siblings, Thomas, Kevin, and Theresa Tobin and the late Richard Tobin, as well as her sisters-in-law, Mary Fleig and Millie Carlin. She is also survived by thirteen nieces and nephews and eight grand nieces and nephews.Maureen’s life was focused on family and her communities in Bethpage and Molloy College. She enjoyed reading, baking, and long conversations with her family and friends. She was most famously known for shouting the loudest in cheering for friends and family. A wake will be held at Arthur F. White’s Funeral Home 234 Broadway, Bethpage, NY on Tuesday, September 6 th from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St.Martin of Tours Church, 40 Seaman Avenue, Bethpage, NY on Wednesday, September 7 th at 10 a.m.
