Gary Hornsby

Gary Wayne Hornsby, 63, of Hilltop passed away on Friday, May 15, 2015 doing what he loved doing, fishing. Born on May 5, 1952 at Hugheston, he was the son of the late William Clayton Hornsby and Inez Marie Rucker Hornsby Oiler. Gary was a gentle giant with a big heart and loved everyone. He was an avid fisherman and hunter and loved anything outdoors. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Jill Marie Hornsby, brother, James William Hornsby; and a nephew, Aaron James Hornsby. Left to cherish many wonderful memories include his beloved wife, June Humphrey Hornsby; two sons, William (Paula) Hornsby and Terry Hornsby, both of Hilltop; daughter, Melissa (Robert) Furrow of Oak Hill; three grandchildren, Jillian and Trey Furrow, and Katelyn Hornsby; three sisters, Betty (Roger) Thompson of Scarbro, Sharon (Ronnie) Toney of Carlisle, Vicki (Andy) Walker of Scarbro; and brother, Randy (Ruth) Hornsby of Danese. Funeral services will be held at 2 PM, Tuesday, May 19, 2015 at Dodd-Payne-Hess Funeral Home, Fayetteville, with Pastor Larry Humphrey and Pastor Bobby Adkins officiating. Burial will follow at Cunard Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12 noon until time of service on Tuesday at the funeral home.
