Verdean Hill Payne

VERDEAN HILL PAYNE FAYETTEVILLE – Verdean Hill Payne, 92, of Fayetteville, passed away Monday, October 13, 2014 at home surrounded by her loved ones. Born on September 20, 1922 at Key Rock, she was the daughter of the late Enoch B. and Virginia Margaret Gunnoe Hill. Mrs. Payne was a very devoted Christian and a member of Jim Franklin’s Radio Ministry. She was a homemaker and she loved working in her flower gardens. She was Mom to many that knew her. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Rev. Carl R. Payne on January 14, 2003; and her daughter, Trina, who passed away at birth. She was the youngest of ten children and the last surviving immediate family member. Left to cherish many wonderful memories includes her three sons: Gary (Jean) Payne of Avon, Ohio, Mark (Nancy) Payne of Oak Hill, WV, and Cabell S. (Paulette) Payne of Scio, Ohio; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and a host of other family and friends. Funeral services will be held at 3 PM, Thursday, October 16, 2014 at Dodd-Payne-Hess Funeral Home, Fayetteville, with Rev. Jim Franklin officiating. Burial will follow at Huse Memorial Park, Fayetteville. The family will receive friends from 2 PM to 3 PM on Thursday at the funeral home.
