Sophie Montano Savala, Beloved Wife, Mother, Grandmother and Nana passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 9, 2012. She was surrounded by her loving family. She had celebrated her 96th birthday on July 23rd. Sophie was born on July 23, 1916 in Bisbee, Arizona to Antonio and Eustasia Montano. She was the last survivor of her family.

Nana also enjoyed being married for 58 years to the late Frank Savala Sr. Together, they lived on the old Baker Ranch on Guiberson Road; Piru.
They had four children – three daughters, one son. Nana was a very strong woman to endure many of life’s ups and downs. She managed to live on her own for quite some time before staying at the Fillmore Convalescent Center.
There, she made several friends and created many smiles. Nana made sure to look pretty, wear her jewelry, dance a little, play Bingo, and smile.
