Alexandre Norton Teixeira

Alexandre "Norton" Teixeira, 95, of Palm Coast, Florida, peacefully passed away on December 28, 2023, surrounded by his loving family at the Stuart F. Meyer Hospice. He was born on October 22, 1928, in Britelo-Celorico De Basto, Portugal, to the late Francisco Antonio Mendes and Emilia Teixeira.

At the tender age of 23, Norton married the love of his life, Elena Aleixo, and together they embarked on a remarkable journey. In 1966, they made the courageous decision to move their young family to the United States, settling in Newark, New Jersey. Norton worked diligently as a marceneiro “woodworker”, dedicating himself to providing a stable and loving home for his family.

In 2009, Norton and Elena began a new chapter in their lives, relocating to Palm Coast, Florida. Actively involved in the Portuguese American Cultural Center of Palm Coast, they continued to foster their cultural heritage and create cherished memories within their community.

Norton was a man of simple pleasures, finding joy in shared meals with his family, sipping Espressos, and relishing in the warmth of Port Wine. An avid soccer enthusiast, his heart belonged to the Futebol Clube do Porto, and he could often be found cheering passionately for his favorite team.

A pillar of strength, Norton's enduring love and commitment were felt by all who knew him. His gentle spirit and unwavering support were the cornerstones of his role as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. His dedication to family extended beyond bloodlines, encompassing a wide circle of relatives and friends who were touched by his kindness and warmth.

Norton was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 71 years, Elena Aleixo Teixeira, in 2022. He is survived by his children Maria Manuela Teixeira-Da Luz, Norton Manuel Teixeira, and João Louro-Aleixo Teixeira. His legacy continues through his cherished grandchildren Norton Manuel Teixeira, Sandy Marie Disney, Michael Manuel Teixeira, Ruben Rego, Daniela Teixeira, Michelle Alexandra Delpopolo, Christopher Aleixo Teixeira, John Alexandre Teixeira, and Elena Ann Teixeira. He is also remembered by his great-grandchildren Bryana Teixeira, Vivian Teixeira, Nevaeh Teixeira, Haley Martin, Katelyn Martin, Savannah Disney, and many more loving relatives and friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Norton's memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, reflecting his compassionate spirit and commitment to making a positive impact on the lives of others.

May Norton's soul rest in eternal peace, and may the memories of his love and laughter bring comfort to those who mourn his passing.

A church viewing for Alexandre will be held Friday, January 5, 2024 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at St Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 4600 Belle Terre Parkway, Palm Coast, Florida 32164, followed by a funeral mass at 11:00 AM.
