

Carl was born in Trenton, NJ on February 29, 1932 to Hazel M. (Anderson) Benyon and Carl W. Benyon Sr. Carl graduated from Hamilton High West in 1950. While at a high school dance he met his future wife; Elizabeth (Betty) Witherow and together they celebrated 65 years of marriage together. After high school, he joined the US Air Force and served from 1951 to his honorable discharge in 1956. Carl attended Trenton Junior College and earned an Associate of Science degree in Basic Engineering in 1964 and held multiple certifications in engineering and technology. Carl worked for RCA Laboratories in Princeton, NJ 1958-1989, rising from a lab technician to Associate Member of Technical Staff as an Engineer. He held 17 patents through work with RCA on the development of semiconductor devices. Upon retirement 1989, he and his wife moved to Palm Coast. Carl was very active in his community joining Palm Coast United Methodist Church in 1989 and remained active helping the church with many of its ministries. He also volunteered and participated in many projects for Habitat for Humanity, Family Life Center, and Florida Hospital Flagler Auxiliary volunteers. Carl and his wife were co-named Florida Volunteer of the Year twice during their many years of service to others. Carl was a member of the Society of Free and Accepted Masons for the State of NJ, Gothic Lodge Number 270, and was a member of the American Legion for over 60 years. He will always be remembered as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, friend and colleague. Carl was preceded in death by his brother, Robert Benyon in 2009. Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth “Betty” (Witherow) Benyon, sister; Eleanor (Benyon) Lavin, daughters Deborah Lee (Benyon) O’Neal, Donna Lynn (Benyon) Shely; grandchildren, John O’Neal, Michael Maffei, Erin (O’Neal) Alford, Carla (Maffei) Nishikura; 12 great-grandchildren, and many beloved nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, www.alz.org. A memorial service celebrating his life will be held on Saturday, May 13, 2017, 10:00AM at Palm Coast United Methodist Church. Arrangements are in the care and trust of Craig-Flagler Palms Funeral Home and memorial gardens.
