Claudia was born on April 1, 1943, in Dolgeville, New York, the only child of Helen and Albert Holmberg, who both preceded her in death. A graduate of Dolgeville Central High School, Claudia went on to earn her degree in education from Potsdam University. She devoted 33 years of her life to teaching in the Scotia Glenville School District, where she touched the lives of countless students as an elementary school teacher.
In 1974, Claudia met and married David Montana in Scotia, New York. Together, they spent much of their married life in Indian Hills, Scotia, and later, Lake George, New York. Claudia pursued her passion for aviation, earning her private pilot certification, and the couple often enjoyed flying to Hilton Head, South Carolina, and Florida during school breaks.
In 2004, Claudia and David retired to Ormond Beach, Florida, for the winter and spent their summers at Lake George. Claudia was an active member of the Lake George Club, where she served as the tennis chair and was a past member of the Board of Directors. She was also a member of the Glen Falls Country Club and the Halifax Plantation Club, where she enjoyed playing golf.
Claudia is survived by her loving husband, David Montana; her cousin Charles (Leslie) Holmberg; brother and sister-in-law, Donald (Bonnie) Montana; sister-in-law, Diane Okenica; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister-in-law, Barbara Scolamiero; brother-in-law, Vito Scolamiero; and brother-in-law, Walter Okenica.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, March 20, 2025, at 11:00 AM at St. Brendan's Catholic Church, 1000 Oceanshore Blvd, Ormond Beach.
