Ernest (Ernie) Robibero, age 84, of Palm Coast, FL, passed peacefully on September 20 after a brief illness. He was born to parents Ernesto and Severina Robibero on January 20, 1938, and was raised in the Bronx, NY. He married Judy (nee Sanguinetti) and they moved to Allendale, NJ, to raise a family. They were married 62 years.
Ernie graduated from the Polytechnic Institute of Aeronautics in Long Island City and started his career in this field during which he worked on the F-105 Thunderchief, a military fighter-bomber which was employed during the Vietnam War. Later in his career he was Technical Publications Manager at Volvo of America, which afforded many opportunities for him and his family to travel to Sweden other parts of Europe.
Passionate about all forms of transportation, he closely followed developments in aviation, space flight and was an avid fan of both model trains and rail transport trains, especially steam engines. Ernie was a proud boat owner and enjoyed spending many summers exploring the NY/NJ waterways.
Ernie was also an accomplished violinist who performed in his youth with the New York Junior Symphony Orchestra, as well as community ensembles including the Ridgewood Symphony Orchestra in New Jersey and the St. Augustine Community Orchestra in Florida. He especially enjoyed playing as a duet at senior housing communities during the holiday season. He was an audiophile and took great pleasure in classical recordings.
Ernie and Judy retired to Palm Coast in the year 2000, where they developed a wonderful circle of friends. He was active in the Italian American Club, enjoyed playing cards with friends and was renowned as an ace bocce player.
He is survived by his wife, Judy, their four children: Karen Maurer and her husband Edward and their children Ryan, Daria (Dylan) and Russell; Eric and his wife Jette and their children Cody (Lisa), Nicki and Casey; Christine Cianci and her husband Craig and their children Allison and Steven, Ken and his wife Kim and their children Alexandra, Miranda, Nicholas, Tyler and his great-grandson Hayden. Additional survivors include his sisters Lucy Shah and Linda Butkowski (Phil).
Ernie had a wonderful life. He will be remembered for never losing sight of the important things, his love for his family and friends, taking care of details to ensure his family’s comfort and safety, listening to, and making beautiful music and enjoying his Sunday bowl of pasta.
