Gene was born to Sygmund and Anna Koprowski on December 15, 1943, and grew up in Pittsburgh, PA. After earning an Engineering degree at the University of Pittsburgh he began the management training program with General Electric, where he met his beloved, Diane, on the factory floor. They were married on August 5, 1967.
Gene obtained his MBA from Syracuse University and is proud to have served his country and receive an honorable discharge from the United States Army in 1972. He was a devoted father of five who always put family first as his career took them to Arizona, Connecticut, Ohio, New York and Virginia. Gene retired after 38 years with GE and moved with Diane to Florida, where he spent the last 8 years enjoying time with friends, visits with family, and life in paradise with his wife, who was by his side for 54 years.
Gene left us while on the golf course, doing what he loved… and after a birdie on the 5th hole. All who knew Gene knew him to be loving and generous, with an infectious laugh and the world’s most comforting hugs.
Gene is predeceased by his parents and his brother Ronald. He is survived by his wife, Diane; his sister, Cynthia; his five children Kathleen, Christina, Teresa, Tammy, and Jason; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
A Memorial Mass for Eugene will be held Monday, April 25, 2022 at 11:00 AM at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 4600 Belle Terre Parkway, Palm Coast, Florida 32164.
