

She was born January 21, 1952, in Fermentelos, Portugal (the first baby born in the post office, where her dad was Postmaster). She was the youngest daughter of Manuel and Gloria De Olivera. In Portugal she studied at the Escola Industrial e Comercial De Águeda. At the age of 19, she immigrated to the United States and worked at an assembly factory while studying at Pace Business School in Yonkers, New York. She started her career in banking as a Bank Teller at National Bank of North America. She married the love of her life, Jose Fernando Cardoso, when she was 23 years old. They had one daughter, Michelle Cardoso Brito.
She worked as a Bank Manager for Bank of America for 42 years, retiring to take care of her Freddy when he became ill. Flo loved to spend time with her family and friends and was always ready and willing to help with anything when needed, she lived a life of service to others. She enjoyed a Vinho de Porto or a Vinho Verde, going to the beach (Praia da Barra and Flagler Beach), reading romance novels (Harlequin), cooking and baking with her granddaughter, Carina, playing ball and cards with her grandson, Cristiano, going to church, shopping, and watching Jeopardy or Wheel of Fortune with her husband at 7 P.M. EVERY night. She also loved sunflowers, birds, and doing DIY projects.
She is survived and will be dearly missed by her loving husband of 48 years, Jose Fernando Cardoso “Freddy”, her loving daughter Michelle and son-in-law Stephen, granddaughter Carina, grandson Cristiano, grand pup Figo. Her brothers and sisters-in-law; Helder “Tony” and Angela; Norberto “Joe” and Rachel; Providence “Prov”; Lilia “Lili”, her sisters; Maria Eugenia “Genita”; Isabel “Isa”, her nephews/grandnephews and nieces/grandnieces; Michael, Mabel, Mikey, and Melanie; Jason, Melissa, Teddy, Dean and Parker; Jenny, Vinny, and Vincent; Frank, Vanessa, and Bridget; Chrissy, Frank, Jackie, and Max; Danny, Jessica, Chloe, Sebastian, and Mateo; Diane, Mike, Julia, and Elena; David, Melissa, her cousins; Luisa, Felipe, Suzie, Lucas, Nathan, and Justin; many more godsons, cousins, neighbors, friends, and family across Portugal, New York, and Florida which she loved each individually, dearly and kept close to her heart.
She was preceded in death by her father, Manuel, big brother Manuel “Mano”, her precious mom, Gloria, brothers-in-law Feliciano “Sano”, Joaquim “Jack”, her cousin Jose “Zeca”, her dog Mickey, and her grand dog Linda.
She had an infectious smile, that lit up the room. A heart of gold that loved immensely, and the world has lost a bright ray of sunshine.
