

Frederick Byron Ellinor, age 85, of Flagler Beach, died after a brief illness on August 3, 2017, in Flagler Beach. He was born in Bainbridge, Georgia to Faye Horton Ellinor and Merrill Floyd Ellinor. He is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Martha A. Ellinor (Niki), and his loving children: James M. Ellinor of Deland; Cindi L. Ellinor of Fairfield Glade, TN; David D. Ellinor and wife Joyce of Lake Helen; and grandchildren, James and Evan Ellinor and Christopher Angel. He was preceded in death by his beloved son Thomas Daniel Ellinor. Early years were spent in Georgia and Florida. The family moved to Ormond Beach where Merrill Ellinor was owner and developer of Ellinor Village. Fred spent his summers working in Ellinor Village while attending Baylor School in Chattanooga, TN, graduating in 1950. He graduated from Stetson University where he was a member of Pi Kappa Phi fraternity. He served two years in the Army. Following several years as manager of Ellinor Village Country Club, he moved his family to Sanford where he opened a VW dealership and later built the Cavalier Motor Inn. Upon his marriage to Niki Ellinor the couple enjoyed many years of boating including several years living aboard Noah’s Ark. They lived in Welaka on the St. John’s River and continued their adventures on the water while he was an employee of the Florida Department of Corrections in Palatka. In 2009 Niki and Fred moved to Flagler Beach and enjoyed beachcombing and trips around town in their golf cart with their beloved beagle Dixie. Fred was a member of Flagler Beach United Methodist Church and the Methodist men’s club. A celebration of life service will be held on Tuesday, August 8, 2017, at 3:00 p.m. at the church.
