DePinho, John, age 65, of Palm Coast, FL, husband, Dad, Pa and friend to everyone he met, returned to the Lord on July 28th 2018 in the arms of his wife, after a valiant battle with cancer. His strong will to live, unwavering faith in God, love and prayers, and Tom Brady carried him through his long battle against cancer. He was and forever will be Boston Strong. Known for his ease in conversation and storytelling even with complete strangers, everyone he met was his “pal”. He maintained a positive attitude even in the toughest of times and never complained of his situation. Many who had the privilege of meeting him were forever changed by his gregarious laugh, deep love of his family and the Lord, and his propensity for off color jokes and Cuervo 1800. He loved his family with a deep and lasting strength, he never left a room without kissing his wife or letting his children know he loved them. He loved adventure whether scuba diving, boating, or cruising in his vintage red corvette with a backwards baseball cap or riding down A1A on his motorcycle. He checked off every adventure off his list except he missed out on Sturgis. John was born on November 17, 1952 in Boston, Ma. to Joseph and Irene DePinho, and raised in Roslindale. John owned his own business, JD towing. He then went on to graduate from the Boston Police Academy, serving Boston for 5 years before moving to Florida and joining the Hollywood Police Department for 20 years before retiring and moving to Palm Coast. Because he just didn’t know how to sit still he joined the Daytona State College family. John is survived by his dedicated and loving wife Gail, their children Alice (Brett) and US Army Sgt. Travis currently deployed in Iraq (Airman First Class Lauren).; his first grandchild named in his honor; John “the deuce”. He leaves behind his best friend since Kindergarten John Rooney. His beloved “brother” Kevin Minger (Dawn) they shared a truly unbreakable bond. As well as his lifelong friends Kevin Kuzzi, Ray Staffier and Robert Calden. Even in death he was thinking of his family, he wished to wait 30 days prior to a celebration of his life for time to grieve. Memorial will take place on August 25th, 2018 at at 11 am at St. Mary’s Catholic Church 89 St. Mary Pl, Bunnell, Fl. For online condolences go to:www.craigflaglerpalms.com. Arrangements are in the care and trust of Craig-Flagler Palms Funeral Home.

First thing John commented on, when we connected on FB, was gratitude that I took his wedding photos (I had forgotten).....never heard an unkind word from the man, & never saw him, that he hadn’t a smile. Just overall a GOOD guy!

First time John and his friend John walked into the Black Cloud to get a drink I started laughing and never stopped every time he came in. He always had a story and everyone in there was drawn in. i remember when he was first diagnosed with cancer. He told me how and what was going on and he and his family were ready to fight. He was so open and honest and such a joy to be around. He always talked about his family and I had the pleasure of meeting them at the Cloud-he was always so proud of them and loved them so. I just saw the obit this morning in the News Journal and was in shock when I saw his name and his beautiful smile. My condolences to his family, I am so sorry.

Johnny and I shared our early childhood as siblings. I was the oldest DePinho granddaughter and he the oldest grandson. Then life separated us but, despite it all, left strong ties. When we found each other many years later it was one of those things where you feel like you never lost track of each other.
He definitely had the DePinho story telling and sense of humor and good looks. He loved his family above all. He had a heart of gold he got from his dad, my Uncle Joe, that came from our Spanish grandmother, Raquel.
I will miss having him to contact and lament not having had him in my life but am very proud of the person he was and the love and respect he had for and from those who knew him closely.
For his family, I am so happy you had each other. May you feel his love with you always.

My memories of John back in our Roslindale days are distinct. Always smiling, laughing a friend to all. I was incredibly impressed by the dignity and courage he displayed in recent years.
May John be at peace, my sincere condolences to family, and John Rooney, his lifelong Roslindale friend.

We have never met anyone who has touched our hearts in the way Boston John has. He was an amazing person with amazing stories that kept everyone entertained beyond words. We were constantly entertained every time we were together and will never forget what he has meant to us even when he was sick he never let that stop him and the Lord has one awesome angel looking down upon us taken far to soon.
