

Jose “Che” M. Moctezuma, loving husband and father was born to Sergio Moctezuma and Angela Herrera-Moctezuma in the community of Borinquen, town of Yabucoa, Puerto Rico on June 19, 1934. He attended all his schooling in Puerto Rico. Of course, Jose had excellent grades, he was a man of excellency which served him well during his Electronics career and all his working Life.
May 1952 Jose graduated High School, which in the words of Jose “was a blast”. In the same Year, August 1952-September 1954, Jose started his studies of “Hotel & Restaurant Business” at the Caribe Hilton Hotel in San Juan, Puerto Rico. The years, November 17, 1953 to January 1955, Jose Moctezuma served in the Army during the Korean War. His pay was low, but able to assist his father to care for his siblings. In 1954, Jose was sent to Fort Benning, GA and assigned to 455th Engineering Construction Battalion Headquarters, and worked as a Supply Clerk.
After being Honorable discharged November 17, 1953, Jose Moctezuma set off to New York City. By December 1955 he bravely conquered the NYC subway system as a means of transportation. Jose Moctezuma continued being productive and progressive, such as working in the Navy Yard and starting his own business as an Electronic Repair specialist while working for New York City Transit. After working 20 years for MTA, Jose retired under a management position, Inspection Supervisor. Jose’s ingenuity served him well, from Supply Clerk to a self-taught Stock Day-Trader. In 1956, Jose, the go-getter, started night school under his GI Bill he began taking Printing courses, at Manhattan school of Printing. June 1957, he attended New York Technical Institute – in the field of Electronics, which he loved.
Jose M. Moctezuma beautiful life will forever be cherished in the lives of his wife, Juana Moctezuma since 1956 and their children, Nancy Moctezuma (Tony Breaux), Angelica Moctezuma, Jose Jr. Moctezuma (Angie Moctezuma-deceased), Ana Lopez (Martin Lopez), Miguel Moctezuma (Jenell Moctezuma) and Helen Moctezuma. Plus, his loving Godsons: Raymond and Max Moctezuma. His grandchildren: Andre, Nonie, Craig, Marisol, Angel (Shantel), Jasmine, Melissa, Ariel, Zuri, Marco, Carolyn (Ivan) and Jessica. Plus, his great grandchildren: Jiovanni, Tiara, Aniyah, Joel “J.J”, Destiny, Jada, Llliana, Milton, Jestina, Jordan, Elisha and Liv-Marie. Jose is also survived by his loving and loyal sisters: Mille Moctezuma, Carmen “Teddy” Moctezuma and Annie Orta-Moctezuma plus a devoted host of nieces, nephews, cousins and loyal friends.
Jose M. Moctezuma has always been, a great provider, a loving mentor and an industrious entrepreneur. Jose loved life, Dancing, Golfing, and Music. He lived his life as his favorite artist, Frank Sinatra sung “I DID IT MY WAY” and Jose lived HIS WAY!
