Joseph graduated from Vernon Township High School in Vernon, New Jersey, in 1987. After graduation, he moved to Palm Coast, Florida, where he attended Daytona Beach Community College and earned an Associate Degree in Business. He later continued his education at the University of Central Florida in Orlando.
Joseph spent many years working in manufacturing, serving in various roles throughout his career. He dedicated over 28 years of service to Alleima Advanced Materials, AKA Kanthal and Sandvik.
Joseph enjoyed watching football—especially cheering for his beloved New York Giants. He loved playing three-card poker, visiting casinos to try his luck at the slot machines, playing computer games, watching The Lord of the Rings, and participating in cosplay. Above all else, Joseph treasured spending time with his family and friends, including his “second family” at the Brown Dog.
Joseph will always be remembered for his generous spirit and thoughtful nature. He was known for doing kind things for others, often in simple but meaningful ways—like buying pizza for everyone “just because.”
Joseph was preceded in death by his nephew, Joey Schmidt, in 2013, and his brother-in-law, Eddie Cederberg, in 2019.
He is survived by his loving parents, Robert and Joan Ballard; his brother, Robert Joseph Ballard Jr, and wife Leslie; his sister, Barbara Cederberg; and his nieces and nephews, Jesse Lauder, Justus
Beauchamp, Jonathan Ballard, Jill Schmidt and Lou Cederberg, along with many loving aunts, uncles, cousins, relatives, and dear friends.
Donations in Joseph’s memory may be made to the Coalition for Congenital Heart Defects (CHD Coalition).
