Joseph Brian Roose, beloved son, father, brother, and friend, passed away on September 10, 2025, in Washington State at the age of 38. Born on October 30, 1986, at Halifax Hospital in Daytona Beach, Florida, Joe lived a life full of curiosity, laughter, and heart.
From an early age, Joe was known for his passion for soccer — a sport which instilled much joy. An inquisitive and sensitive spirit, Joe experienced equal joy in exploring worlds of imagination and wonder. He was captivated by Greek mythology, the mysteries of the supernatural, and fantasy — stories that stirred the heart and made the impossible seem real. He would spend hours drawing, creating, and exploring wherever his imagination could take him. He loved being out in nature, creating things with his hands, and diving into deep philosophical debates — often punctuated with a perfectly timed movie or TV quote.
Joe had an indelible gift for making people laugh and think at the same time. His curiosity about life and people shone through in every interaction, whether he was making people feel at home during his years in the hospitality industry, or sharing a quiet conversation with a friend. Joe’s life, like all lives, had its struggles — but his heart was genuine, and his love for others ran deep, even when it was hard for him to show it.
Above all, Joe was proud of his children, Lauren Marie-Francis Roose and Joel Grayson Roose, who held a special place in his heart, and will forever be his most meaningful legacy.
Joe is survived by his mother, Julie Kay (Reeder) Wolfgram, and his stepfather, Randy Wolfgram; his siblings, Jason Roose (wife Tristen, and their children Ash, Barrett, and Rhodes) and Jenni Kowsh (husband Tom, and their children Willow and Nolan); and many extended family members and friends who will miss his laughter, warmth, and big-hearted presence. He was preceded in death by his father, Brian Roose.
Joe lives on through the love he shared, the curiosity he inspired, and the stories and laughter he brought wherever he went. Those who knew him will remember his humor, his genuine spirit, and his ability to make the world feel a little more magical.
A celebration of Joe’s life will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 9 at Craig Funeral Home in Palm Coast.
The family invites friends to honor Joe’s memory by spending time in nature, sharing a favorite book, or laughing with someone they love — just as Joe would have wanted.
