Mary is survived and deeply missed by her devoted husband, David of 56 years; her children John; Mary C. (Sean Major); and David (Amy). She will be forever cherished and remembered by her grandchildren: Justin Thomas; Gabe DiNardi; Tyler Major; Elizabeth DiNardi; and Samuel DiNardi. She is also adored by her sister, Eleanor Fletcher (Doyle) of Delaware and was dearly loved by many nieces and nephews.
Mary was a shining light in the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her life was marked by love, compassion, and an unwavering faith in God. Sweet-spirited and kind, she never had an unkind word to say. Her passing leaves a profound void in the hearts of her family and friends.
Upon graduating from Our Lady of Presentation High School in Brighton, MA, Mary felt called to a life of faith and entered the religious order of the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur. For twelve years, she lived as Sister Francis Eleanor, SND, during which time she earned her bachelor’s degree from Emmanuel College in Boston. She taught elementary school at St. Margaret Mary School in Slidell, LA, for two years, and later dedicated more than thirty years of service to the schools of the Archdiocese of Boston, touching countless young lives through her devotion, compassion, and grace.
Mary was a long time member of St. Anne’s Church in Readville, MA, where she taught at the school and ran the CCD program for many years. In 2006, Mary and Dave retired to Palm Coast, FL, where she became an active member of Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, and served as a Eucharistic Minister, a member of the Legion of Mary, and a participant in the Padre Pio Prayer Group.
She also enjoyed traveling and cruising through the Caribbean and Europe with her husband; especially treasuring their visits to Ireland and Italy. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Saturday, February 14, 2026, 11:00 AM at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church. Family & Friends may visit in the memorial room beginning at 10:00 AM. Following the mass, interment will take place. Family and friends are then invited to a luncheon and time of fellowship at Craig’s Flagler Memorial Gardens.
Mary’s legacy of faith, love, and kindness will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. Donations in her memory may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur Spirituality Center.
