

Melvin Waring Jr., beloved husband, father, son, grandfather, uncle, and friend, passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones. Born on January 1, 1954, in New York City, Melvin was the third of five children born to Carrie and the late Melvin Waring Sr.
Melvin, affectionately known as "Mel," spent his early years in Harlem, NY, where he attended New York City public schools. His family later relocated to Paterson, New Jersey, where he completed his high school education.
A hardworking and dedicated man, Mel held a variety of jobs throughout his life, including work in construction and over a decade of service with the NYC Parking Violations Administration. In his mid-twenties, Mel met the love of his life, Sharon, and the two were married in 1986. Together, they made their home in Somerset, NJ in 1988, building a life filled with love, laughter, and shared dreams. Mel changed jobs to work closer to home and family in NJ, providing for his family by working as head dispatch for a national moving corporation.
Mel had a deep passion for health and fitness—he loved running, exercising, and playing basketball. He also had a love for music, dancing, and traveling, especially to the Caribbean, where he and Sharon enjoyed many memorable vacations together.
In 2012, Mel and Sharon retired to Palm Coast, Florida, where they joined Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church. There, they became active members of the Black Catholic Guild and looked forward each year to traveling with the ministry and the African American Cultural Society, building meaningful friendships within their communities.
Melvin is survived by his devoted wife, Sharon; his loving mother, Carrie; his sisters Valerie and Sharon; his cherished children, daughter Myava and son Ian (Christina); and his adored grandsons Jaylin, Cameron, and Kendrick. He also leaves behind a host of uncles, nieces, nephews, treasured relatives, and friends who will miss his kind heart, joyful spirit, and unwavering love.
Melvin Waring Jr. lived a life of love, strength, warmth, and generosity. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
A Memorial Mass celebrating his life will be held Saturday, October 4th at 11:00 AM at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church in Palm Coast. A repass will follow the Mass at the Palm Coast Community Center, 305 Palm Coast Parkway NE., Palm Coast FL., 32137
Interment will take place at Franklin Memorial Park in North Brunswick, New Jersey.
