Michael Alexander Ingram 61 of Palm Coast, Florida, died on April 2, 2020 at AdventHealth Medical Center, Orlando, Fl. Michael was born in Alexandria, Jamaica W.I. to the late Esric and Carmen Ingram. Michael grew up in Kingston, Jamaica, and graduated from St. George’s College. He and his parents migrated to Elmont, New York in 1978. In 1981 Michael relocated to Gainesville, FL, to attend the University of Florida where he earned Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in psychology and rehabilitation counseling. After completing his studies, he moved to Orlando, where he worked as a counselor for the state.
Due to bouts of illness Michael moved to Palm Coast to be closer to family. He was an Acolyte and Layreader at Christ The King Anglican Church, in St. Augustine. He also became an active member in several community associations including the Afro-American Caribbean Organization, in which he was recognized for his artistic contributions in helping decorate floats for the annual parade. Michael loved his dogs and wore cowboy boots on nearly every occasion. His hobbies included combing the beach with his metal detector, rock collecting, and gardening. He enjoyed history, a good debate, and was most passionate about his art. Michael was known for his quirky sense of humor; friends and family described him as caring, proud, and peaceful with never a complaint, and he was always willing to help others.
Michael is survived by his sister Donna Meade of Bernardsville, NJ; his brother Lester and his wife Anggraeni of Palm Coast, FL; niece Natalie; nephews Jayden; Daniel his wife Moreen and children Dylan and Aiden; David his wife Shannon and children September and Aria; and a large extended family of aunts and cousins.
“If we weep at death, it’s because we do not understand death. If we saw death as another kind of birth, just as the Gospel exhorts us to, we wouldn’t weep, but rejoice.” – Edwidge Danticat
A Memorial Service will be held at Christ The King Anglican Church, St. Augustine, FL at a later date.
