January 8, 1943 – April 11, 2025
Nicholas J. “Nick” Maiorino, Jr., 82, of Macclenny, formerly of Flagler Beach, passed away peacefully on April 11, 2025, at the Addison of Oakleaf in Jacksonville, surrounded by love and family.
Born in Far Rockaway, New York on January 8, 1943, Nick was the son of Nicholas Sr. and Julia Sammis Maiorino. He was raised in Woodmere, NY, where he cultivated a strong sense of duty and service that would shape the course of his life. After graduating, Nick began his career as a mail carrier, eventually answering a deeper call to public service by joining the Floral Park Police Department. Through years of commitment and integrity, he rose to the rank of Sergeant. He also dedicated his time as a volunteer firefighter with the Woodmere Fire Department, embodying a selfless spirit in every facet of his life.
A man of many talents, Nick was a gifted carpenter who generously shared his skills with family, friends, and neighbors—always ready with a tool in hand and a warm heart. After retiring from law enforcement, he and his beloved wife of 49 years, Kathy, embraced life’s journey together with joy—traveling, lending a helping hand wherever it was needed, and cherishing time spent with their growing family.
Nick was a proud member of the Fraternal Order of Police and the Floral Park PBA, as well as the Moose Lodge in Ormond Beach and the Elks Club in Palm Coast. A devout man, he loved attending church with his family and lived his faith through kindness and service. He was also a devoted Green Bay Packers fan, and Sundays often found him cheering on his team while surrounded by loved ones.
More than his titles or affiliations, Nick will be remembered for his steadfast love of family. He was a dedicated father to his children Carol Ann, Tammy (Erik), Keith, and Kelly (William); a proud grandfather to Corynne, Alexa, Carolena, Gabriella, Ezra (Larissa), Abigayle, Will, Joseph, Cameron, and Nikki; and a joyful great-grandfather to Rylee, Ophelia, and Betti. His bond with his brother Richard Maiorino was lifelong and treasured.
Nick was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Kathy, his parents, and his brother, Donald Mitchell. Though their absence was deeply felt, he carried their memory with him always.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Nick’s life on Wednesday, April 16th, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Craig-Flagler Palms Funeral Home, 511 Old Kings Road South in Flagler Beach. A funeral service will follow at 12:00 PM, officiated by Rev. Dr. Kevin M. James, Sr. Interment will take place at Flagler Memorial Gardens, with a luncheon to follow at Craig-Flagler Palms.
In lieu of flowers Fraternal Order of Police, Lodge 171, 2511 Moody Blvd., Flagler Beach FL 32136 or the FASNY Firemen’s Home, 125 Harry Howard Ave, Hudson, New York 12534
Nick’s life was a testament to service, love, and quiet strength. He will be deeply missed, but his legacy lives on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
