Rev. Noris Henry Pastor/Rev. Noris Henry, 79, transitioned from his earthly home in Palm Coast, Florida, to his heavenly home on Tuesday, November 25, 2025. Pastor Henry, affectionately known as Brother Henry, was born in Shooters Hill, Manchester, Jamaica, on December 16, 1945. He was one of ten children, four boys and six girls born to John Henry and Alice Davis. Noris accepted the Lord Jesus Christ at an early age. He often spoke about his childhood days attending Sunday School in his district, remembering how meaningful those early lessons were. Each week the children received a small attendance card, and at the end of the month, if they had perfect attendance, they received a larger one. At age 15, Noris experienced the heartbreaking loss of his mother, a difficult time for him and his siblings. His father, however, held the family together with unwavering strength and love. Noris attended Spaldings Elementary School and later studied at Cobbla Youth Camp, where he learned a trade and built lifelong friendships. He worked various jobs to support himself, but driving was his passion. He earned his CDL license early and drove buses, vans, trucks, and cars. Noris also took great pride in his work. In 1972, while living in Jamaica, he served as a fire truck driver. After migrating to Evanston, Illinois, he continued his love for transportation by working for the city’s Nortran Bus Transit system. Noris loved sports. His favorite team was the Chicago Bulls, and he rarely missed a chance to cheer them on. He found immense joy in watching his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren play sports. Noris was always active in church work. He was encouraged in ministry by Pastor Bender of the United Brethren Church, who started a youth group in Spaldings. When Pastor Bender left, the group joined the Spaldings Gospel Assembly, where Brother Noris helped strengthen the ministry alongside Pastor Henry White and Pastor Mills. In 1971, Noris married his elementary school classmate, Bonnye Thompson. They had two children, Gary DeLeon and Bonnye Marie, before migrating to Evanston, Illinois, in 1976. Two more children, Tracey-Anne and Phillip George, were born in Evanston. Finding a church home was a priority. The Lord led them to the New Testament Church of God at 1332 Davis Street, where they served for 13 years under Pastor Alvin and Sister Gladys Francis. Pastor Francis encouraged Noris and Bonnye to take courses through Lee College to become Exhorters. Noris became a licensed minister and later served as Sunday School Superintendent and Youth Pastor. In 1989, Rev. Henry moved to Palm Coast intending to start a New Testament Church of God. The Lord redirected him to join a body of believers led by Pastor Winston and Sister Carmen Brown. Pastor Brown later appointed Rev. Henry to lead the work. The congregation met at the Palm Coast Community Center until land was acquired at 99 Old Kings Road North. In 1995, the current church United Evangelical & Missionary Outreach was constructed. Pastor Henry served faithfully for 27 years, blessing families through baby dedications, youth counseling, weddings, funerals, and pastoral care. He experienced joy and sorrow but remained steadfast in his devotion to Jesus Christ. In his later years, Pastor Henry endured several health challenges. His final fall resulted in a long hospital stay, but his family honored his wish to return home. He transitioned peacefully on November 25th, surrounded by his wife, family, and friends. Rev. Henry is survived by his loving wife, Bonnye; his four children, Gary, Marie, Tracey, and Phillip; and one of his cherished nieces, Angela. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Anthony, Natasia, Andre, Devon, Faith, and Hope; and great-grandchildren, Layla, Ayden, Rhliegh, Marley Grace, and Dallas. He leaves behind his siblings Pearly, Ruby, and Winston, along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family. He was preceded in death by his brothers Kenneth and Eugal, and his sisters Ivy, Ula, Amy, and Lila. In lieu of flowers a gift of love may be given in his honor.
“Blessed are those who die in the Lord… they rest from their labor, for their deeds follow them. “—Revelation 14:13
