Olegario Tavares Rodrigues, 88, passed away on Saturday, April 12, 2025, at St. Michael’s Medical Center, Newark, NJ. He was born in Sever de Vouga, Portugal and emigrated to the US in 1960 resided in Newark, before settling in Beverly Beach, FL 18 years ago.
Olegario worked in construction and was a member of the Heavy and General Construction Laborers Local 472 of Newark for over 50 years, retiring years ago.
Husband of the late Maria Emilia Conceicao Da Silva Rodrigues; devoted and loving father of Antonio Rodrigues and his wife Graziella; cherished grandfather of Emily Ann Schalago and her husband Dylan and Gary Rodrigues and his wife Daniella; dear great-grandfather of Grayson Mark Schalago and Mia Elise Rodrigues; brother of Ligia Coelho, Maria Lilia Lopes, Cesario Rodrigues, Julio Rodrigues and the late Alexandrino Rodrigues and Adelino Rodrigues; also survived by many dear relatives and friends.
The wake for Olegario will be held on Wednesday, April 16, 2025 from 4-7 pm at the Buyus Funeral Home, 426 Lafayette St., at Wilson Ave., Newark, NJ 07105.
A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, April 22, 2025, 11:00 AM at Flagler Memorial Gardens,
