

On the 8th of January 1931, Olive Leah Mena Malcolm graced this world with her presence. She was the third of 3 children between Edgar Malcolm and Mary Moody from Westmoreland, Jamaica West Indies. She attended school there as a child and later moved to Kingston where she obtain training as a nurse. After obtaining her Nursing education, she worked at Children’s Hospital in Kingston, Jamaica, West Indies. She met and married Linford “Wally” Walters in April 1958. In 1969 they migrated to the United States, settled in Plainfield, NJ and worked diligently to bring their children to be with them within 3 years. In 1976 she and her family moved to Piscataway, NJ where she remained until 1997 when she retired to Palm Coast FL.
She had a lifetime career in Nursing, working at John E. Runnells Hospital, Meridian Nursing Home where she received several certificates of Achievements and accolades, and even as a Home Health care provider after her retirement. She had a love of learning, was a self-taught seamstress who made most of her children’s clothing when they were younger. Then in 1987 she decided to obtain professional training at New York School of Design. She had a love for traveling and even visited Senegal Africa for 3 mos and made a trip to Jerusalem, Israel. She enjoyed multiple cruises and vacation destinations. She enjoyed gardening, fishing, cooking, dancing and staying connected with her Lord.
In 1982, along with her husband and son, Olive (Zinah) became a member of Temple Beth El- 9th Tabernacle in Brooklyn, NY. She was an active member of the congregation and a strict observer of the Sabbath.
She leaves to grieve four daughters, Carol Bailey-Bennett (Paul), Patricia Livingston (Steve-deceased), Karlene Jones (Alton), Lolalyn Clarke (Patrick) and son, Conrad Walters (Deneen); 16 grandchildren, 3 greatgrandchildren; her older brother, Josiah Malcolm, in Jamaica, West Indies, and a host of other relatives and friends.
She was predeceased by her sisters Vida and Gretel and her husband in the eyes of the Lord, Linford Walters. On Tuesday October 6, 2020 she went to meet her maker, completing her time on earth.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday, October 16, 2020 at 11:00 AM in the chapel of Craig-Flagler Palms Funeral Home, 511 Old Kings Road S. Flagler Beach where the family will receive friends from 10:00 AM until the time of services. Burial will follow in Flagler Palms Memorial Gardens. Arrangements are in the care and trust of Craig-Flagler Palms Funeral Home.
