Peter Wade May

Peter W. May, 88, of Flagler Beach, died November 1, 2021, at his home with his loving family by his side. Peter was born on December 3, 1932, in Queens, New York, to August and Mildred (Hill) May. Growing up, Peter lived throughout Queens until his family settled in Mastic Beach, Long Island. Peter proudly served his country as a Marine in the Korean War. On February 8, 1953, he married the love of his life, Mary K. May. While raising their children, Peter and Mary lived in New York, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Massachusetts, Wisconsin, Florida, and Illinois. In 1991, after their children were grown, they moved to Flagler Beach. Both loved the adventure of traveling abroad, and even lived for a time in Wootton Bassett, England, and in Singapore. Peter enjoyed his daily walks with his beloved dog, Pumpkin, stopping along the way to visit with his wonderful neighbors along his street. He looked forward to his daily weight lifting routine in his garage. Peter loved reading books on history, as well as studying and discussing quantum physics. His positive attitude, wisdom, and laughter will be dearly missed but forever remembered by all who knew and loved him.

Peter was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years Mary K. May. Peter is survived by a daughter, Karen (Will) Chitty of Ormond Beach; three sons, Peter (Ruth) May of Milwaukee, Bryan (Peggy) May of Ormond Beach, and Thomas (Lisa) May of Manhattan; seven grandchildren, Jeremiah (Doniel) Chitty, Laura Chitty, Scott (Carla) Rapp, Steven Rapp, Bryan (Katelynn) May II, Nicholas May, and Meagan May; and three great-grandchildren, Zachary, Leanna, and Cameron Hovey. Family and friends will be received Saturday, December 4, 2021 , from 1:00-2:00 PM at the Craig-Flagler Palms Funeral Home, 511 Old Kings Road South in Flagler Beach, where services will be held at 2:00 PM.
