Born on July 22, 1942, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Thomas was the beloved son of the late Gerald and Fannie (Hairston) Edmunds. He attended Overbrook High School in Philadelphia. Shortly after high school, he enlisted in the United States Air Force, serving honorably during the Vietnam Conflict.
Following his military service, Thomas continued his commitment to public service through a career with the Federal Aviation Administration and several other government agencies. He later retired from the Government Printing Office in Washington, D.C.
In 2004, Thomas relocated to Palm Coast, Florida, where he enjoyed his retirement while pursuing his interests in computers, electronics, and traveling. He was also a proud member of the Disabled American Veterans (DAV), maintaining strong ties to his fellow veterans.
Thomas was preceded in death by his brother, Gerald R. Edmunds Jr., and his sister, Lillian (Edmunds) McCray.
He is survived by his children, Thomas H. Edmunds, Jr. (wife, Audra) and Caryn Edmunds; grandchildren, Brittany Edmunds, Bryce Edmunds, Briana Edmunds, and Danyelle Perry; great-grandchild, Azharia Boyd; siblings, Roger Edmunds, Allan Edmunds, and Janice Edmunds-Wells; as well as many loving relatives and cherished friends.
Thomas will be remembered for his dedication to service, his curious and inventive mind, and the deep love he had for his family and community.
