William Johnston was one of a kind. He was loving and caring, hardworking, and so much more. During his time on this Earth, he was a man who took on many roles. He started as a son and brother, he grew to become a marine, a husband, a father, a grandfather, a battle buddy, a friend and much more. He always loved to be called Bill.
Bill served as a Marine from 1950 to 1954. After coming back from the Marines, he met the love of his life, Josephine. He would go on to start a family and have five children by the name of Robert, Nancy, William, Dawn, and Liza.
Bill worked at Canarsie Neighborhood Development Corporation, Meals on Wheels seven days a week where he would deliver meals to families. Bill would go on to set up entertainment with professional singers at the Knights of Columbus Hall. All profits from the event were donated to the Willow Brook Foundation. Bill always loved to donate to St. Jude, firefighters, police, and many other charities to support those in need.
Bill never backed down from challenges. He always found ways to create, fix, or even macgyver his way to an answer to everything. He was artistic, he was creative, and he always had an attention to the details.
He is survived by his wife Josephine, his children Nancy, William, Dawn, and Liza, his grandchildren and all of those that he blessed with his love.
