

Winfred David Bowden, 91, of Palm Coast entered peacefully into rest August 6, 2024. Winfred (aka Whitey, WD, Dave, Pops and PawPaw) was born March 30, 1933 in Norfolk, Virginia to Alton and Rosa Bowden. Winfred retired from his job at the City of Norfolk (VA) in 1979. Winfred was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and he served three 2 year missions in three LDS temples. He loved his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Winfred enjoyed playing Bingo at FOP, Flagler County, and Palm Coast Social Club, he also enjoyed traveling. Winfred was a car enthusiast who never knew a stranger and loved everyone he met.
Winfred is predeceased by his wife of 53 years Elizabeth “Betty” Bowden.
Winfred is survived by his daughter, Sharon (Stephen) Danson, his stepson, Larry (Susan) Newbern, Sr., his step daughter, Linda (David) Brandt; his grandchildren, Christopher (Nicole) Danson, Andrew (Antoinne) Danson, Ashley (A.J.) Proctor, and Kirsten (Anthony) Minnillo; his step grandchildren, Lary, Patricia, Michael, Angela, Robert, and James. He is further survived by his 8 great grandchildren and his 2 step great grandchildren. There are many other family and friends that knew and loved him.
Winfred was a happy and humble man who will be missed deeply.
There will be a Visitation at Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Bunnell on Saturday, August 10, 2024 from 11am-12pm with a Funeral Service to follow at 12pm. Winfred will be laid to rest at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Norfolk, VA.
